Mt K2 is located in Jammu and Kashmir. This is at the border of Pakistan occupied Kashmir and China. Mt K2, at 8,611 metres (28,251 ft) above sea level, is the second-highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest.

On the other hand Mt Kangchenjunga, also spelt Kanchenjunga, is the third highest mountain in the world, is located at the border of Sikkim, India and Nepal.

So as per the official documents, which mountain is considered as the highest mountain in India?

    Mount Kangchenjunga, with the height of 8586m, is the highest mountain in India and the third tallest mountain in the world. It is located in the border of India and Nepal. Nanda Devi (7816m) is the second-highest mountain in India after Kangchenjunga and the highest located entirely within the country.
